Changes in Chilean education - Post 9
The reality of Chilean education is degrading, since I constantly think of ways to make the education system more efficient and fairer.
First of all, I think that education must be completely free. It is the obligation of the State to provide free and quality education, because the same people who study will contribute to society at some time. Free education guarantees that all people, regardless of their economic level, have access to education. The segregation in access causes that great minds are left without opportunities or that people get into debt to study.
My second point is based on the time students spend at school or at university. It would change the schedules of entrance to classes, since it is unheard of that they oblige people to study (or work) before 9-10 am. The brain before those hours does not work correctly. In addition, with very early hours, people who live far from their study homes receive a lot of stress. In addition, it would reduce the hours dedicated to academic obligations, since it is elementary to have more hours of recreation.
The third point deals with the subjects studied by people at school. Although there are elementary things in our formation as a citizen (not as a person), there are too many things that we simply do not occupy. Children are condemned to study things they do not like in school, and that affects clarifying what they really want for their futures.
What do you think of these measures of change?
